A deserving group of Lady Spartan Track & Field stars qualified to compete against the best of the best in West MI at the UofM Heath-West Sports Medicine Scholarship Invitational at Comstock Park on Tuesday. Congratulations to Skylar Bradford, who was selected as one of the 8 scholarship winners at the prestigious meet! Skylar ran her season best time in the 1600M.

The Spartan All-Stars that qualified for the meet were: Emma Janesak, Kennedi Wood, Mady Oudbier, Madeline Del Castillo, Haley Pangborn, Audrey Skowronek, Erin Alster, Jahnylah Mack, Abby Zurek, and Bella Elliott. Layla Vallone and Aayla Enlow also qualified for the meet but were unable to attend.

Some outstanding performances include Emma Janesak, who ran for a PR time in the 800M, finishing 3rd out of 46 elite runners. Madeline Del Castillo crushed both of her Hurdle PR’s. The 4x800 team Of Janesak, Wood, Alster and Oudbier outperformed projections, winning Silver in the race, and finishing with the fastest time of any 4x800 team in Coach Buckner’s tenure. Wood and Alster destroyed their PR split times.

Next up is the State Finals, where Emma Janesak and Kennedi Wood will race against the best in the State of Michigan on June 3.
