Sparta hosted the Regional Final for the talented Region 13 Friday. The Lady Spartans earned 10 Regional medals while advancing 2 athletes to the State Finals in 3 events.

Emma Janesak qualified for State in 2 events: 1600M, with a 20-year school record-breaking time of 5:08; and the 800M with a pretty new PR. Emma then closed out her night by winning a medal in the 4x400 with a season best time.

Kennedi “Warrior” Wood battled to overtake 3 runners in the home stretch of the 400 to qualify for the State Finals with a surprise regional silver, setting a new PR in the process, and upsetting the competition. She added another Regional medal in the 4x400 Relay. 

Mady Oudbier brought home a Regional Medal with a PR in the 3200M. Jahnaylah Mack added a Regional medal in Shot Put. Madeline Del Castillo set her PR in Long Jump, earning a 4th place Regional Medal, also setting a PR in the 100M Hurdles. Haley Pangborn and Audrey Skowronek won Regional medals, helping their 4x400 Relay team to a season best time. 

Skylar Bradford ran a season best time in the 1600M in her last high school race. Other highlights included Kadie Norman with a 200M personal best and Aayla Enlow with a 300M Hurdle PR. 

Up next, several Spartans have qualified for the All-Star Michiana meet on Tuesday in Comstock Park.
