Friday at the D2 MHSAA Regional the Spartans qualified 6 to the State Finals in two weeks.  Joe DeKorne jumped his personal best of 13' 4" and earned the top spot as the Regional Champion.  Lucas Sidlauskas threw over the state qualifying standard by hurling the discus 141' 9".  Owen Metzger qualified in both the 1600 and 3200, a feat not done in years at Sparta and even more impressive, by a freshman.  Greg Janesak qualified in the 3200 by running 9:47 and also medaled in the 1600.  The race of the day however was Senior Noah Momber running a 31 second PR and qualifying to state in the 3200 by running 9:50.  The Spartans medaled in every relay:  The 3200 relay with Jonah Deems, Carson Wood, Isaac Meyers and Adam Ogg; the 800 relay of Syrus Anderson, Zach DeKorne, Jayden Cochrane and Joe DeKorne; the 400 relay of Gerron Dye, Nathan Warner, Jayden Cochrane and Joe DeKorne; and the 1600 relay of Jax Wilson, Zach DeKorne, Syrus Anderson and Jackson Jones who anchored with a PR of 51.8. Zach Dekorne also medaled in the Pole Vault; Dustin Warner medaled in both the shot put and the discus; Davien Hammock in the high jump.  PR's were recorded by Michael King in the 400 and Matthew Rimbey in the 110 High Hurdles.  Great job and good luck this Friday at Team State!
