The top athletes on the Lady Spartans Track & Field team tested their talents against the other top track stars in the notoriously tough region 12 at the Finals in Zeeland on Friday.
Bella Vallone jump-started the action, finishing 3rd in the region in Long Jump, with a PR of 16’04.75”! She not only earned a Regional medal, but also automatically qualified for the State Finals! Jocelyn Garza finished 8th in the Region with a season PR jump of 14’11.5”!
Our Pole Vault stars also brought home Regional Medals: Bella Elliott finished 6th and Bailey Elzinga finished tied for 7th in the Region.
Our Relay teams had a great showing. The 4x200 team of Trinity Skowronek, Bella Elliott, Hayley Pangborn and Jocelyn Garza raced to a 5th Place Medal. The 4x100 team of Skowronek, Garza, Elliott and Layla Vallone also grabbed a 5th place regional medal and smashed the season record by 2 seconds. The 4x400 team of Skowronek, Emma Janesak, Kennedi Wood and Shaundria Webber finished 5th as well, setting a season record.
In the 1600M run, Emma Janesak ran a big PR placing an impressive 3rd overall in the Region on her third time running the event! Emma also finished 4th overall in the 800M with another PR.
In the 400M, Kennedi Wood set her PR, shaving off more than a second and pulling down a 6th place medal. Shaundria Webber also set her PR in the 400M.
In the 300M Hurdles, Trinity Skowronek blazed to 4th Place medal.
In the 3200M run, Mady Oudbier grabbed a medal with her 7th place finish.
Congrats to Abby Zurek, Jahnylah Mack, Elly Penland, and Samantha Brower for competing in the Regional Finals meet and representing Sparta so well.
Next up for the Spartans is the invite-only Metro Health Meet at Comstock Park, where our All-Stars will compete against some of the top athletes in Michigan!
