Sparta High School Athletics is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Bryan Applin as new Head Coach of the Sparta Spartans Girls Basketball program. Coach Applin brings five season of coaching experience from Davenport University to SHS.
Coach Applin is from Monroe, MI where he went to St. Mary Catholic Central High School. He is married to Meredith Applin who is a former player from Western Michigan University and current Assistant Coach at WMU for Women’s Basketball. He got his Bachelors degree from Western Michigan University (’15) and his Masters Degree from University of Michigan (’19). During his time at WMU he was the Video Coordinator for Western Michigan University Women’s Basketball from 2013 – 2015. From 2015 – 2017 he was then the Graduate Assistant for University of Michigan Women’s basketball. During the 2017 Coach Applin helped guide the team to win the 2017 WNIT Tournament. Upon leaving WMU Coach Applin took on a new role as the Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for Davenport University from 2017 – 2020.
