Sparta Hockey consisted of schools from Sparta, Comstock Park, NorthPointe Christian, Northview, Coopersville and Tri County, makes historic run to the MHSAA State Semi Finals. They started their post season journey earning the number 1 seed in their region. In Regional Semis, they took on Traverse City West and beat them 6-2. They went on to Regional Finals to defeat host site Mona Shores in a thrilling double overtime victory. This was the first mitten in Sparta Hockey history. They proceeded to State Quarterfinals at East Kentwood and took on the Kalamazoo Eagles, who they split 1-1 in the regular season. They pulled out the win 5-2 to secure a Final Four spot at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth. Sparta was seeded 4th and would take on state perennial Detroit Catholic Central. After three tough fought periods, the Spartans fell to 6th straight state champions DCC.
